Carrie & Ryan | Now Amber Resort ~ Puerto Vallarta

On April 22nd, 2017 I arrived at the airport bright and early, camera in tow, to travel to beautiful Puerto Vallarta for Ryan and Carrie's wedding. In total, including myself, there were 41 of us on the plane and I do not think that Westjet was prepared for this bridal party, as they literally ran out of alcohol before we landed in Mexico. Sleeping on the plane was not an option; I think it was the single loudest flight that I have ever been on, but everyone was having a blast playing cards and chatting, obviously excited to be spending the week together to celebrate their friends love for each other.

Fun Facts

Bride: Carrie
Groom: Ryan
How the met: Through mutual friends.
What attracted Ryan to Carrie: Her smile.
What attracted Carrie to Ryan: His kindness.

The engagement: "Our engagement story is one of a kind. He planned an extravagant proposal. He sent me on a scavenger hunt through our new home to find clues. They led me to the place where we had our third date, by the river where a table was set up. There was a laptop that had a video with pictures of Ryan and I, the reasons he loves me and pictures of my closest friends and family saying "say yes" when the video ended. Ryan was behind me on one knee in a suit in the wet snow. I cried like a baby. It was the most romantic proposal I have ever seen."

The First Look

Ryan and Carrie opted for a later ceremony, which meant that they chose to do formal photos of them before the ceremony. For anyone who knows me, you know that I love special bride and groom first look photos, so I was fully on board with this decision!

We started the bridal portraits off with a shot (don't ask me why they came in a martini glass, we were all confused by that!) ... As you can tell from their faces in the third image, they did not like it at all!

Her most memorable wedding moment: Walking down the aisle to her best friend.

His most memorable wedding moment: The first look.

Advice to couples having a destination wedding: "Pay ahead of time. Don't take the details too seriously because your partner and your love is the most important thing. Don't stress too much, trust your Coordinator."

Ryan and Carrie opted out of a formal reception, and instead did their first dance, cake cutting, and speeches directly after the ceremony in the gorgeous natural light underneath the gazebo.

The Bridal Party

From day one it was beyond evident that this group of friends have been together since elementary school, and they they are closer than most groups are, which made for a wedding full of genuine laughter and fun.

We started the day of photos with shots, it was only fitting to end with shots as well.

Congratulations Ryan and Carrie. I cannot thank you enough for taking me along on this journey with you. It was an absolute joy to witness the love that you two have for each other, and the love that your friends and family have for you as well. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you two, and I am excited for the day that you announce that the Maclellan clan is growing! ;)

Tell us about your experience with Bree Orser Photography: "We had the pleasure of doing our engagement photos with BOP and we fell in love. She was so patient and friendly. She showed us positions ahead of time and made us feel like pros. By the time our wedding came around we were thrilled that we could trust Bree to carry out our vision of our wedding photos without having to stress. Bree's organization was key. We set up a Pinterest board and met to go over photography visions, schedules and plans. She showed up with printed photos of our favorite shots and brought along her own fun prompts for cute photos. On the day of the wedding we were running behind and I never once had to worry because Bree was so on top of it and understanding. I've never worked with a photographer that was able to go with the flow so well. Our friends have been so impressed that one couple has already booked Bree for their upcoming wedding and others are also interested. Bree brings such a positive energy to each session she does and you will surely not be disappointed with the photos. Bree never ceases to amaze us time and time again. We love her so much and are forever grateful for her dedication to her clients. She is so thoughtful . Even to the point of providing clients with a small, well thought out gift to the individual couple. Our experience with BOP was one of a kind and one we will never forget. We will undoubtedly use BOP in the future!"
